Dr. Sudha Kankaria is a multidimensional personality who devoted her life towards social Activities. Dr. Sudha is from devoted social background by parents Nagnath Phatale family and family of freedom fighter by in laws. Her mother in law Mankuwarbai Kankaria Kotecha, and Hiralalji Kotecha, Shantabai Kotecha scarified their life for freedom of the country. Dr. Sudha embarked on journey 38 year back with pioneering initiative of “Save the Girl Child mission” in 1985. Dr. Sudha Kankaria “The First Proto Originator of the Save Girl Child movement” in India has been honored in the Wonder Book of World Records.

In this mission Dr. Sudha targeted all aspects like dealing with mind sets, law enforcement, policy measures and leveraging community efforts. Structural approach was taken for mission through 11 point action plan which included innovative approaches like 8th Vow during marriage to welcome girl child. Resolution in Gramsabha, Mass oath etc. Large scale renaming initiative was taken to change name from “Nakoshi” unwanted to give such girls new life for which global media took notice. Well known media house such as Times News feed, Times of India Delhi, BBC London appreciated this work. Thousands of resolutions were passed by Gramsabhas and many other social governing bodies. She also played a key role as PCPNDT State Advisory Committee member and she nominated for PCPNDT National Inspection Monitoring Committee by director of health services. She initiated ANC Tracking to make registry of pregnant ladies and counsel them. Anganwaditai and Aashatai were trained for the same. With help of doctors, NSS and NCC students, journalist, industrialist, NGO’s,  NYK, Jai Hind Sainik Sanstha  and warkari this mission were taken to expand scale nationwide. She had written literature to highlight this societal issue through series like “Stri Janmache Swagat Kara”, “Priya Goduli”, “Beti Nahi to Bahu Kahase Laoge” etc. Dr. Sudha delivered series of 75 talks on this subject at Radio on occasion of Aazadika Amrut Maostuv. This nationwide movement got global appreciation. She guided to National Conferences and workshops organized by UNISEF, Universities, State Governments on gender equality etc. She was invited as chief guest for Penelope Gandhi Conference in presence UNESCO director Ms Eleni Glikatzi Alrweiler at Greece and she was felicitated as “Woman of Excellence” for contribution to this movement in India. Crete Television, German television and California Radio had taken her interviews. At national level President of India praised her work in 2007. She is also honored as Life Time Achievement Award by Savitribai Phule Pune University with the hands of Hon. Former President of India Pratibhatai Patil 2016.  It is a matter of great honor that a Postal Ticket with the name and photo of Dr. Sudha Kankaria has also been published. Her social contribution doesn’t end here. Dr. Sudha was brand ambassador for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and adopted village Pimpalgaon Landga which received Nirmalgram award. She motivated communities and panchayatraj institutions to strive for health hygiene and better life. This work was acknowledged by President of India Abdul Kalam in 2007. Dr Sudha appealed to take Mass oath to welcome girl child on 15th August 2008. The response was overwhelming whole Maharashtra participated in it. It was attended by more than 2500 Gram Panchayats and many Municipal Councils and Corporations. About 25 thousand persons under Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation took oath. Same response from Yavatmal Muncipal Carporation about 20 thousands person took oath thereafter. This is historical event and create much more awareness in society. Dr. Sudha also working for eye donation movement. This was awarded by Health Minister of Maharashtra Government in 2008. As Chairman of Rotary Pulse Polio Committee she played key role in public education and awareness. She presented research paper at an International Conference on Spirituality and Social Service. Thousands of corona patients are benefited by Dr. Sudha’s free healing sessions and counseling services. She  has arranged many rajyoga meditation courses for prisoners. She undertakes unique project like Mass Meditation for Crime rate reduction and world peace. . Dr. Sudha has rendered 25 years of selfless service to children’s theater through Kankaria Karandak.  All these social service done by Dr. Sudha is without any grant.
